Rules
Point & Punishment System
Mvndicraft uses two separate point systems: one for in-game violations and one for Discord violations. They do not interact with each other. All rules apply equally to text and voice — in-game voice chat falls under in-game rules, Discord voice channels fall under Discord rules.
Kicks: A kick is a separate enforcement action that may be applied on top of points. It does not replace points or alter the punishment threshold — it simply removes the player from the server immediately. Rules that warrant a kick are noted individually.
In-Game System
- [C] Cheat Points — Awarded for cheating violations (Section 1.0) only.
- [V] Violation Points — Awarded for all other in-game rule violations (building, chat, exploits, towny, etc.).
Point Values Per Tier
| Tier | Cheat Points [C] | Violation Points [V] |
|---|---|---|
| T1 — Minor | 10 pts | 3 pts |
| T2 — Medium | 25 pts | 8 pts |
| T3 — Major | 50 pts | 20 pts |
| T4 — Severe | Instant permanent ban | Instant permanent ban |
Punishment Thresholds (total C + V combined)
| Total Points | Punishment |
|---|---|
| < 10 | Informal warning (not logged) |
| 10 | Formal warning (logged) |
| 20 | 1-day ban |
| 35 | 3-day ban |
| 55 | 7-day ban |
| 80 | 14-day ban |
| 110 | 30-day ban |
| 150+ | Permanent ban |
Warnings
- Informal warning — verbal notice from staff, not logged, no points. Used for genuine first-time minor offenses where the player clearly did not know the rule.
- Formal warning — logged on record, issued at 10 pts. Accumulating 2 formal warnings causes the next violation to be escalated one tier automatically.
- Formal warnings expire when their associated points expire.
In-Game Mute Track (chat violations only — Section 2.x)
Chat violations default to mutes rather than bans. V-points from Section 2.x rules are tracked separately for the mute ladder. Severe chat violations (T4, slurs, sexual harassment) skip the mute track entirely and go straight into the ban system.
| Chat V-Points | Mute Punishment |
|---|---|
| First T1 offense | Informal warning only |
| 3 – 7 | 1-hour mute |
| 8 – 15 | 6-hour mute |
| 16 – 23 | 24-hour mute |
| 24 – 31 | 3-day mute |
| 32+ | Permanent mute (can still play, cannot use public chat) |
At staff discretion, a mute may replace a ban for chat-only violators up to the 35pt combined threshold. Above 35pts the ban system always applies regardless of violation type.
Point Decay
- T1 and T2 points expire after 90 days from the date they were issued.
- T3 points never decay and remain on record permanently.
- T4 violations result in an immediate permanent ban and bypass the point system entirely.
- C and V points are added together when determining punishment.
Examples:
- A player with 25 C-pts (one T2 cheat) and 8 V-pts (one T2 violation) has 33 total — just under the 35pt threshold, resulting in a 1-day ban.
- A player caught using kill aura (T3 cheat, 50 C-pts) for the first time exceeds 35pts immediately and receives a 7-day ban.
- A player with 20 V-pts purely from chat violations hits the 20pt threshold but receives a 24-hour mute instead of a ban, at staff discretion.
Discord System
[D] Discord Points — Awarded exclusively for Discord rule violations. Completely separate from the in-game C/V system. All Discord rules apply equally to text channels and voice channels.
D-Point Values Per Tier
| Tier | Discord Points [D] |
|---|---|
| T1 — Minor | 3 pts |
| T2 — Medium | 8 pts |
| T3 — Major | 20 pts |
| T4 — Severe | Instant permanent ban from Discord AND game server |
Discord Punishment Thresholds
| Total D-Points | Punishment |
|---|---|
| First T1 offense | Informal warning (not logged) |
| 3 – 7 | Formal warning (logged) |
| 8 – 15 | 1-hour timeout |
| 16 – 23 | 24-hour timeout |
| 24 – 39 | 3-day timeout |
| 40 – 59 | 7-day server ban |
| 60 – 79 | 30-day server ban |
| 80+ | Permanent server ban |
Discord Warnings
- Informal warning — not logged, used for first-time minor slip-ups.
- Formal warning — logged, issued at 3–7 D-pts. Two formal warnings cause the next violation to escalate one tier automatically.
D-Point Decay
- T1 and T2 D-points expire after 90 days.
- T3 D-points never expire.
- T4 Discord violations are an instant permanent ban from both Discord and the game server — no appeal for doxxing.
Examples:
- A player who spams (T1, 3 D-pts) and uses a slur in VC (T2, 8 D-pts) has 11 total D-pts — hitting the 8–15 range and receiving a 1-hour timeout.
- A player who organizes a raid (T4) is permanently banned from both Discord and the game server immediately, regardless of prior record.
Discord Rules
All rules in this section apply to text channels and voice channels equally.
- (T2) [D: 8pts] Use of racial, sexual, and religious slurs is not allowed.
- (T4) No NSFW or obscene content — nudity, sex, graphic violence, or disturbing content.
- (T2) [D: 8pts] No spam or self-promotion without admin permission.
- (T1) [D: 3pts] English only in all public channels at all times, including when no staff is online.
- (T1) [D: 3pts] Keep messages in their appropriate channels.
- (T1) [D: 3pts] Political and religious discussion is prohibited.
- (T2–T3) [D: 8pts] No toxicity, bullying, or harassment. Sexual harassment escalates directly to a T4 ban.
- (T4, unappealable) Doxxing — leaking private personal data of any kind — is prohibited.
- (T4) Punishment evasion through alt accounts results in a permanent ban on the alt and an extended ban on the main.
- (T4) Organizing or participating in raids results in an immediate permanent ban.
- (T2–T3) [D: 8pts] No bandwagoning: coordinating others to mass-respond, manipulate polls, or pressure votes is prohibited.
- This includes: rallying groups to shift opinions, messages that pressure others how to vote, or using coordinated numbers to pressure staff rather than constructive discussion.
- (T4, unappealable) Any joke referencing pedophilia, child abuse, or similarly reprehensible subjects will not be tolerated.
- (T2) [D: 8pts] Staff impersonation on Discord is prohibited.
- (T2) [D: 8pts] Nations must enforce these Discord rules on their own servers to be listed in the nation channel.
- (T4 where applicable) Discord's Terms of Service and Community Guidelines apply in full.
Section 1.0 — Cheating
Any mod, client, or tool that provides an unfair advantage over other players is not allowed.
Allowed Mods
Optifine zoom, shaders, light mods, armor/status HUD mods (your own stats only), and replay mods such as Flashback — provided the replay is only viewable after fully closing the active game session.
Disallowed by Default
Any mod not listed as explicitly allowed whose primary purpose is to provide information or perform actions unavailable in vanilla Minecraft.
Tier 1 — Minor Violation [C: 10pts]
- X-Ray texture packs or mods
- Minimap (all different kinds)
- Auto-fish / AFK fishing bots
- Schematica printer mode (automated block placement)
AFK fishing bots and any violation where the player is passively gaining resources while AFK will result in a kick in addition to the standard C-points.
Tier 2 — Medium Violation [C: 25pts]
- Freecam
- Player health indicators or entity ESP
- Tracers (directional lines pointing toward players or entities)
- Storage ESP / storage finders
- Step assist (auto-steps up full blocks without jumping)
- Fast place / fast break (bypasses normal interaction timing)
- Auto-sprint mods
- Zoom mods that see through or reveal content behind walls
Tier 3 — Major Violation [C: 50pts, no decay]
- Kill aura / auto-attack
- Reach hacks (extended hit distance)
- Speed hacks
- Flight hacks (outside of creative mode)
- No-fall / fall damage negation
- Anti-knockback
- Aim assist / aimbot
- Scaffold / tower bot
- Nuker (instant area block destruction)
- Teleportation hacks
- Phase/clip through walls
Auto build/break mods are not allowed. Schematic rendering (ghost blocks as a visual guide only) is allowed.
Tier 4 — Severe Violation [Instant permanent ban]
- Crash exploits or packet flooding targeting the server or individual players
- Intentional and repeated use of duplication glitches
- Deliberate exploitation of unpatched server bugs for economic or structural gain
Section 2.x — Chat
All rules in this section apply to text chat and in-game voice chat equally.
- 2.0 (T1) [V: 3pts] English or a language an active in-game staff member can speak must be spoken in all chat. Proximity Voice Chat, Local Chat, and Nation Chat are exempt.
- 2.1 Constant harassment is punishable. Severity scales with nature and frequency: verbal harassment (T1–T2), targeted personal harassment (T3), sexual harassment (T4, unappealable).
- 2.2 (T2) [V: 8pts] Blasphemy directed at any religion is forbidden.
- 2.3 (T3) [V: 20pts] Spamming is prohibited.
- 2.4 (T3) [V: 20pts] Impersonating staff is prohibited.
- 2.5 (T2) [V: 8pts] Racial slurs are forbidden.
- 2.6 (T4, unappealable) Any joke referencing pedophilia, child abuse, or similarly reprehensible subjects will not be tolerated.
Section 4 — War & Building
Core principle: your town spawn must be reachable via siege weapons. Staff will make case-by-case decisions on ambiguous situations. Nations are given a verbal warning before a punishment.
4.1 — Moats
| Rule | Tier | Points | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
| 4.1.1 | T2 | [V: 8pts] | Moat width may not exceed 10% of the longest straight-line dimension of the enclosed area, and can never exceed 20 blocks regardless of town size. |
| 4.1.2 | T2 | [V: 8pts] | Moats must be filled with water to at least 2 blocks below ground level on the interior side. |
| 4.1.3 | T3 | [V: 20pts] | Moats may not be filled with lava or dripstone spikes. |
| 4.1.4 | T3 | [V: 20pts] | Lava is not permitted during sieges under any circumstance. |
| 4.1.5 | T3 | [V: 20pts] | Dry moats have a maximum depth of 5 blocks. |
| 4.1.6 | T3 | [V: 20pts] | Filled moats have a maximum depth of 30 blocks. |
| 4.1.7 | T3–T4 | — | Using natural rivers or oceans for defense is allowed. Any extension or modification beyond original boundaries is treated as a constructed moat. |
| 4.1.8 | T2–T3 | — | Multiple moats are allowed. Each moat's width must not exceed 10% of its own enclosed area minus the inner moat's width. Stacking moats to circumvent the formula is not allowed. |
Example (4.1.1): A moat surrounding an 86-block-wide area may be at most 8–9 blocks wide.

Example (4.1.8): A 10-block moat over a 100-block area, with a second moat over a 160-block area, makes the second moat's max width 6 blocks (160/10 − 10 = 6).
4.2 — Walls
Staff may use world edit to help remove violations if requested.
| Rule | Tier | Points | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
| 4.2.1 | T2 | [V: 8pts] | Walls must not be plain "factions-style" cube walls. They must have architectural character appropriate to the server's time period. |
| 4.2.2 | T3 | [V: 20pts] | Walls may not contain water, lava, or obsidian. |
| 4.2.3 | T2 | [V: 8pts] | Walls may not exceed 7 blocks in thickness. An additional 3 blocks of non-blast-resistant material is allowed in the style of a bastion parapet. Keeps however are limited to only having 6 blocks maximum of thickness. Anti gravity blocks for keeps are NOT permitted |
| 4.2.4 | T3 | [V: 20pts] | Gravity blocks in walls are allowed within reason. Walls exceeding ~25 blocks in height that are primarily composed of gravity blocks are not allowed. |
| 4.2.5 | T3 | [V: 20pts] | Placing buttons, kelp, or any block to prevent siege weapon placement or block ship passage is not allowed. A single layer of buttons to prevent block glitching is the sole exception. |
| 4.2.6 | T3 | [V: 20pts] | You may have multiple walls. For two walls to count as separate, the distance between them must exceed the height of the shorter wall. Maximum 3 separate walls, not counting a central keep or citadel. |
| 4.2.7 | T3 | [V: 20pts] | Towers must not exceed 15 blocks thick (wall included) and must be architecturally realistic and viable for the time period. |
| 4.2.8 | T2 | [V: 8pts] | Keep exterior walls may not exceed 5 blocks in thickness. Interior walls are limited to 1 block. Corner sections may be up to 7 blocks. |
4.3 — Traps
Standard: T3 — During active sieges: T4
- 4.3.1 [V: 20pts] No pitfall traps of any kind are allowed.
- 4.3.2 [V: 20pts] Dropping dripstone on players is not allowed.
- 4.3.3 Luring a player into your base and closing the door behind them IS allowed.
- 4.3.4 Ports must always have a clear, accessible exit for any player without build permissions.
- 4.3.5 [V: 20pts] Siege banner platforms may not be made into death traps.
4.4 — Tunnels
- 4.4.1 (T3) [V: 20pts] Building underground tunnels or bunkers that could be used for siege purposes is forbidden.
- 4.4.2 (T2) [V: 8pts] Storing items in underground vaults unreachable via siege weapons is not allowed.
- 4.4.3 (T3) [V: 20pts] Using underground tunnels during an active siege for any reason is not allowed.
- 4.4.4 (T3) [V: 20pts] Creating unrealistically large tunnels through mountains constitutes landscape griefing.
An underground bunker is defined as a room with roughly 5–10+ solid blocks above it. Digging to attack an underground player is not considered tunnel construction.
4.5 — Attacking and Defending
- 4.5.1 (T3) [V: 20pts] The attacking team may not cause excessive damage with the sole purpose of griefing a town beyond what siege warfare requires.
- 4.5.2 (T3) [V: 20pts] Using boats to get over town walls is not allowed.
- 4.5.3 (T2) [V: 8pts] Block glitching into a town is not allowed.
- 4.5.4 Building a tower to pass over walls is allowed up to a maximum height of 12 blocks. Towers must be freestanding. Nerdpoling is not allowed.
- 4.5.5 Attackers may use siege weapons to destroy chests and take their contents.
- 4.5.6 (T3) [V: 20pts] Camping within 10 blocks of a siege camp — stationary positioning for more than 30 seconds without active engagement — is not allowed.
- 4.5.7 (T2) [V: 8pts] Building or destroying blocks with the deliberate intent of denying siege weapon placement is not allowed.
- 4.5.8 (T2–T3) [V: 8pts] Door defenses requiring more than 2 sequential interactions to pass, or designed to trap or cycle players, are not allowed.
- 4.5.9 (T3) [V: 20pts] Spawn killing — repeatedly killing the same player at or near their spawn point outside of an active siege or declared war — is not allowed.
"Repeatedly" is defined as 3+ kills of the same player within a 10-minute window without the victim initiating combat.
4.6 — Miscellaneous
- 4.6.1 (T3) [V: 20pts] No building Nazi, Communist, or any other hate-related imagery.
- 4.6.2 (T2) [V: 8pts] No ice roads (realism). Gravel paths are allowed to increase horse speed.
- 4.6.3 (T3) [V: 20pts] No automated or redstone-assisted farms, including rat farms. Players found AFK-farming will be kicked in addition to points being applied.
- 4.6.4 (T3) [V: 20pts] No using Big Doors in unintended ways.
- 4.6.5 (T3) [V: 20pts] No sky or ocean bases.
- 4.6.6 (T3) [V: 20pts] No temporary towns created solely as siege outposts.
- 4.6.7 (T3) [V: 20pts] Town spawn must be reachable via siege weapons. It may not be underground, in the sky, underwater, or engineered to be inaccessible.
- 4.6.8 (T2) [V: 8pts] Builds must be realistic for the server time period (476–1550 AD).
- 4.6.9 (T3) [V: 20pts] Builds must reflect the architectural style of their in-game region.
- 4.6.10 (T2) [V: 8pts] Statues may not exceed a scale feasible in the Middle Ages.
- 4.6.11 (T2–T3) [V: 8pts] Landscape griefing is not allowed: unrealistic or visually destructive modification of unclaimed land.
- 4.6.12 (T1) [V: 3pts] Bridges across mountains or terrain must be at least 3 blocks wide and have some structural logic.
Non-Aggression Pacts
NAPs are allowed as part of roleplay diplomacy but are not enforceable by staff. The only agreements staff will enforce are direct item or currency exchanges where an Admin acted as middleman.
This is a clarification, not a punishable rule.
4.7 — Peace
- 4.7.1 Scamming and lying in peace treaties is allowed. Admins may serve as neutral middlemen but will not knowingly participate in scams.
- 4.7.2 [V: 20pts] Mass-leaving your town after it becomes occupied is not allowed.
4.8 — Siege Banner / Town Spawn / Siege Camp
- 4.8.1 (T2) [V: 8pts] Town and siege camp spawns may not be placed in towers.
- 4.8.2 (T2) [V: 8pts] "Bedwars"-style defenses around the siege banner are not allowed. A clear, flat platform must exist at banner level.
- 4.8.3 (T3) [V: 20pts] No water, lava, or traps of any kind may be placed around a siege banner.
- 4.8.4 (T3) [V: 20pts] Siege camps may not be placed in the sky, on open water, or in any location that is not realistically reachable.
- 4.8.5 (T3) [V: 20pts] Siege camps must have multiple accessible entry routes.
- 4.8.6 (T3) [V: 20pts] Siege camp banner must be at the natural ground level. Ocean siege camps must not be further than 2 chunks from naturally generated land, with a bridge connecting to the mainland.
- 4.8.7 (T3) [V: 20pts] Siege camp structures must be at or less than 30 blocks high from natural ground level.
Section 5 — Alts
- 5.0 (T2) [V: 8pts] Using alt accounts is not allowed. Results in a permanent ban on the alt and a temporary ban on the main account, scaling on repeat offenses.
Section 6 — Exploits
- 6.0 All glitches and bugs must be reported. Intentional abuse of bugs is punishable. Severity scales with impact.
- 6.1 (T2) [V: 8pts] AFK bypassing is not allowed. Players caught will be kicked in addition to points being applied.
- 6.2 Abusing bugs, lag, block glitching, duplication glitches, or any other unintended game mechanics is not allowed.
Section 7 — Towny
- 7.0 (T2) [V: 8pts] No snake claiming. Claims must be spatially sensible and may not extend as thin lines or single-chunk chains.
- 7.0.1 (T2) [V: 8pts] Claiming land with the deliberate intent of preventing another town from expanding is not allowed. Offending claims will be deleted.
- 7.1 (T2) [V: 8pts] Joining a town with the intent to spawn-kill residents is forbidden.
- 7.2 (T1) [V: 3pts] All towns must be named after real places that existed within the server's timeframe (476–1550 AD).
- 7.3 (T1) [V: 3pts] The town must have at least one chunk over the area where that settlement historically existed.
- 7.4 (T3–T4) Towns may build bridges or barrages over major rivers within their claims as long as they are architecturally medieval. Row boats must be able to pass: minimum 4 blocks wide, 3 air blocks high, 2 water blocks deep.
- 7.5 Canals may be built as long as they are realistic in appearance and construction logic.
⚠ Siege Towns Are Not Allowed
A siege town is defined as any town that meets one or more of the following:
-
An underdeveloped or single-resident town created to enable additional siege operations
-
A town positioned to function as a closer respawn point against an enemy nation
-
A town built with the primary intent of serving as a forward operating base (FOB)
-
A town operated by members of another nation that effectively functions as an extension of that nation
-
7.7 (T4) You may not deliberately drain your town's funds to cause it to ruin with the intent to later reclaim it. Towns found to have done this will be returned to the occupying nation.
Section 8 — Nations
- 8.0 (T3) [V: 20pts] Alternate history nations are allowed if plausible in a medieval context.
- 8.0.1 (T3) [V: 20pts] Nations that existed exclusively outside the server's timeframe (476–1550 AD) are not permitted.
- 8.1 To have your nation listed in the Discord nation channel, you must meet all of the following:
- Have a Discord server with at least 10 active members dedicated to Mvndicraft
- No advertisement of other Minecraft servers within it
- Own at least one in-game town before submitting (NOT ENFORCED UNTIL 2 WEEKS AFTER RELEASE)
- 8.2 (T3) [V: 20pts] Nations may not be created by the same group of players as another existing nation in an unrealistically distant or disconnected region.
- 8.2.1 This also applies to nations that are formally separate but functionally operate as vassals or extensions of another nation.
- 8.3 Federations are allowed as long as they make historical sense and formal player agreements are documented.
Section 9 — Real Money Trading
- 9.0 (T4) Trading real money in exchange for any in-game goods, currency, or advantages is not allowed.
Section 10 — Store
- 10.0 Chargebacks, payment reversals, or any forced refunds will result in a permanent, non-appealable ban.
Fail RP
Fail RP is defined as the failure to commit to roleplay or act in a manner consistent with realistic medieval behavior.
Fail RP applies under the following defined circumstances:
1. Failure to cooperate with an occupying nation after conquest. Rebellion, espionage, and scheming for your previous nation are allowed and encouraged. The following are NOT allowed:
- Deliberately sending your town to ruin to spite an occupying nation
- Mass-griefing towns of the occupying nation
- Removing large sums of town funds solely to deprive the occupying nation
- Rebelling against the occupying nation when rebellion isn't declared through the towny plugins
2. Any action that constitutes an obvious, deliberate attempt to break the server's medieval roleplay setting in a way that harms other players' experience.
No fixed punishment applies — severity is determined case-by-case. Egregious or repeated violations will be punished; minor first offenses typically receive a warning.
