Appeals Process
1. What is an Appeal?
An appeal is a formal request to have a punishment reviewed. If you believe a punishment was applied incorrectly, unfairly, or disproportionately, you have the right to appeal it. Appeals are not a guarantee of reversal — they are a review process.
Appeals are taken seriously. Submitting a genuine, well-reasoned appeal will always be read by a staff member. Submitting an appeal just to waste staff time, or submitting the same appeal repeatedly after a decision, will result in your appeal privilege being suspended.
1.1 — What Can Be Appealed
- Temporary bans of any length
- Permanent bans
- Permanent mutes
- Discord server bans
- Point record disputes — if you believe points were logged incorrectly
1.2 — What Cannot Be Appealed
The following punishments are permanent and non-appealable under any circumstance:
- Doxxing — leaking private personal information about a real person
- Any joke referencing pedophilia or child abuse (Rule 2.6)
- Chargeback / payment reversal (Rule 10.0)
- Permanent bans issued to alt accounts used for ban evasion
If you are unsure whether your punishment is appealable, submit an appeal anyway and staff will inform you.
2. Before You Appeal
Before submitting an appeal, go through this checklist. Appeals that ignore these steps are usually denied faster than ones that address them.
Ask yourself:
- Do you know exactly which rule you were punished for? If not, find out first.
- Do you understand why the staff applied that punishment based on your point record?
- Do you have a genuine reason the punishment was wrong — not just that you disagree with the rule?
- Has enough time passed? Appeals submitted within 24 hours of a punishment are rarely productive.
⚠ Saying "I didn't know the rule" is not grounds for a successful appeal. Rules are publicly available. It may result in a point reduction at best, not a full reversal. ⚠ Saying "it wasn't that serious" is not grounds for a successful appeal. Severity is determined by the point system, not by your personal assessment.
2.1 — Valid Grounds for an Appeal
- The punishment was applied to the wrong player
- The evidence used was incorrect, fabricated, or taken out of context
- The rule cited does not actually cover what you did
- The point total used was calculated incorrectly — e.g. expired points were counted
- A staff member with a conflict of interest handled your case
- New evidence has emerged that was not available at the time of the ruling
- The punishment tier applied was clearly disproportionate to the violation
2.2 — Not Valid Grounds
- You disagree with the rule itself
- Other players have done the same thing and weren't punished (report them instead)
- You didn't mean to break the rule
- You are friends with a staff member and expect them to overturn it
- The punishment has already expired and you just want it off your record
3. How to Submit an Appeal
All appeals are submitted through the designated appeals ticket channel in the Mvndicraft Discord server. Do not DM staff members directly about appeals — they will be ignored.
3.1 — Submission Format
Your appeal must include all of the following. Incomplete appeals will be put on hold until the missing information is provided.
| Field | What to Write |
|---|---|
| Your In-Game Username | The username your account was punished under |
| Your UUID | Found at namemc.com — paste your username to find it |
| Date of Punishment | Approximate date the punishment was issued |
| Punishment Type | e.g. 7-day ban, permanent ban, permanent mute, Discord ban |
| Rule Cited | Which rule number or section was cited by staff |
| Your Case | A clear, factual explanation of why you believe the punishment was wrong. No insults, no emotional language. Facts only. |
| Evidence (if any) | Screenshots, video, or other material supporting your case. Not required but strongly recommended. |
Keep your appeal factual and calm. Aggressive, accusatory, or disrespectful appeals are immediately dismissed regardless of merit.
3.2 — One Appeal Per Punishment
You may only submit one appeal per punishment. If your appeal is denied, you may not re-submit the same appeal.
If significant new evidence emerges after a denial, you may submit a new appeal specifically citing that new evidence. Repeating the same arguments is not a new appeal.
Submitting duplicate appeals, spamming tickets, or harassing staff over a denied appeal will result in your appeal privilege being suspended.
4. What Happens After You Submit
4.1 — Timeline
| Stage | Target Timeframe |
|---|---|
| Acknowledgement — CM confirms receipt and logs the appeal | Within 24 hours |
| Initial review — CM checks the case file and point record | Within 48 hours |
| Decision for warnings and mutes | Within 72 hours of submission |
| Decision for temporary bans | Within 5 days of submission |
| Decision for permanent bans | Within 7 days of submission |
| Communication of decision to player | Within 24 hours of decision being made |
These are targets, not guarantees. Complex cases may take longer. If your appeal has gone past these windows with no update, you may send one follow-up message in the ticket.
4.2 — Who Reviews Your Appeal
- Warnings and mutes — reviewed by the Community Manager alone.
- Temporary bans — reviewed by the Community Manager and a Moderator jointly.
- Permanent bans — reviewed by an Admin. The CM prepares the case file; Admin makes the final decision.
The staff member who issued your punishment does not participate in reviewing your appeal. Any staff member with a conflict of interest (faction, personal relationship, rivalry) is excluded from the review.
4.3 — Possible Outcomes
| Outcome | What it Means |
|---|---|
| Upheld | The punishment stands as issued. Your point record is unchanged. |
| Reduced | The punishment is reduced — e.g. a 7-day ban becomes a 3-day ban, or points are adjusted downward. |
| Overturned | The punishment is removed entirely. Points are cleared from your record. |
| Dismissed | Your appeal was submitted in bad faith, was a duplicate, or was otherwise invalid. No review was conducted. |
If your appeal is overturned and the punishment was the result of staff error, the staff member responsible will be noted in the Staff Records.
5. After a Decision
5.1 — Accepted / Reduced
- Any active ban or mute will be lifted or adjusted immediately.
- Your point record will be updated to reflect the corrected total.
- You will be notified in your appeal ticket.
5.2 — Denied
- The punishment remains in full effect.
- You will receive a brief explanation of why the appeal was denied.
- You may not re-appeal the same punishment unless significant new evidence exists.
- If you believe the appeal process itself was conducted improperly, you may raise a process complaint — see Section 6.
5.3 — After a Permanent Ban Appeal
If a permanent ban appeal is denied, the ban remains permanent. There is no further appeal path.
If a permanent ban appeal is upheld, you will be unbanned. Your point total will be reset to 110 — the 30-day ban threshold — rather than zero, reflecting that the violations that led to the ban still occurred.
A successful permanent ban appeal is not a clean slate. It is a second chance. Any further violations will be treated accordingly.
6. Process Complaints
If you believe your appeal was not reviewed fairly — not because you disagree with the outcome, but because the process itself was improper — you may raise a process complaint.
Valid reasons for a process complaint:
- A staff member with a known conflict of interest participated in your appeal review
- Your appeal sat past the stated timeline with no communication
- The decision given had no explanation attached
- Evidence you submitted was not acknowledged in the decision
Not valid reasons:
- You disagree with the decision
- You feel the reviewing staff member dislikes you
- You want another chance after a denial
⚠ Process complaints are reviewed by a different Admin than the one who handled your appeal. Frivolous process complaints will result in your appeal privilege being suspended.
